“I have posted watchmen on your walls, Jerusalem; they will never be silent day or night” (Isaiah 62:6).
Israel recently observed her Independence Day, a national day of joy and gratitude for the Jewish state’s 67 years of freedom in her God-given land.
And yet, even during this time of celebration,Israel’s “Watchmen on the Walls” were standing guard protecting innocent lives from those sworn to kill Jews and destroy the Holy Land.
Again this year, we marked this hard-fought independence under the dark cloud of a fanatic Iranian regime being given a free hand to develop a nuclear bomb with Israel’s name on it!
Thus, the prophet’s ancient words of Israel’s need for constant defense against those who hate her with a blind, all-consuming hatred ring true today. This is the harsh reality of life in the Holy City of Jerusalem, and in all of Israel from Nazareth in the north to Sderot in the south.
