The French satirical newspaper
Charlie Hebdo plans to respond to an extremist attack that decimated its staff
by upping its usual print run of 60,000 to at least 1 million copies in 16
different languages next week. Its
officials are also planning to publish more satirical cartoons, including some
of Muhammad’s drawing, in commemoration of their murdered fellows and to pay
their tribute to fight against terror and for the sake of freedom of expression.
Patrick Pelloux, one of the
French magazine columnists told AFP this morning (Monday): “we are confident
about this move, we let won’t let terror to win us.” He also confirmed that
magazine’s intention is to republish Muhamad’s cartoons as early as for next
week: “we will not give up for extremism or people who dare to mute us, it is
certain we will mock the Muslim Prophet.”
