The No-Show President

The No-Show President

By: Editorial Board THE JERUSALEM POST
While we think it was important that the United States be prominently represented at the massive unity rally following the Charlie Hedboe and Hyper Cacher massacres in Paris, we were not at all surprised that President Obama chose to effectively boycott the event.
Despite the president’s respectable anti-terrorism record, he doubtless has little interest in being identified with anything that might suggest, however tangentially, criticism of Muslims or Islam.
He is, after all, still determined to pursue the outreach to the Muslim world he first proclaimed in the early days of his first run for the presidency, and he’s still peculiarly reticent about employing terms like “Islamic” and “terrorism” in the same sentence.

In a word, if he couldn’t control the message of the Paris rally, he wanted no part of it.

Shiloh Musings: “Truth, Justice and The American Way,” Not Obama For Sure‏                                                By:   |  Published: January 14th, 2015

Those of my generation grew up hearing the phrase:
It was a pledge to lead the world in morality and justice for all.
Even the expats, like myself, rather disenchanted in today’s America certainly expected to see the American President among the world leaders at the anti-terrorism rally in France. With Obama’s above average physical height, he would have certainly ended up in the center, so the photos would look well-balanced. But not only didn’t Obama bother showing up, he didn’t even send any important figure from his administration, not his Vice President, nor his Secretary of State or even his wife.
The 21st Century United States of America isn’t the country I once knew. It seems like all the old value systems have gone kaput. There was a time, not all that long ago, when the American President would drop all plans and rush to show his horror at such brutal terrorism. Even if the only real reason he’d be going would to show that America condemns terrorism and cares about freedom and justice more than any other country.

It’s clear that the United States is no longer a world leader fighting for truth and justice. The American way is back to the pre-World War II isolationism.

my ps.
although i was/am of the opinion that hussein obama must have gone to paris, or at least send somebody like kerry, bidden or michelle....i knew that he was not going to do so. i knew it the moment he gave his opinion as to the terrible news coming from paris.  he read it from the teleprompter without showing a single gesture of "nothing."  coldest as the iceberg that torn apart the hull of the ill-fated titanic.  just as he is tearing apart this great country of ours.  i am proud of being american, cuban-exiled and grateful to this great nation of ours for opening her doors to us and many like us.  but for the first time since i came here back in '62, i am worried and i am sad of the turn of events regarding the leadership of the usa in the world...
IN G-D WE TRUST...and hope that these words keep on relating to the Judeo-Christian heritage mentioned in our glorious DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE as composed and signed by the immortal fathers of this UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!
