"Because I remember, I despair. Because I remember, I have the duty to reject despair." - Elie Wiesel
Friend,
Today, as we unite in the shared loss of our 6 million ancestors, my mind keeps traveling to these powerful words.
As a people, we never cease to remember the horrors that took place in our recent past, and how profoundly they define our being and our future. And we never should cease to remember. We must commemorate every Yom Hashoah, and educate the next generations about this tragic chapter in our history.
But we must also uphold the duty to reject despair. Over 34 years ago, Holocaust survivors founded FIDF on that very premise, as part of the commitment to ensure that no one would ever again face what our ancestors endured.
And each time FIDF helps an IDF soldier, I can see how far we've come through the strength and success of our people and our homeland.
I look at those thousands of men and women, wearing the uniform of a country that those who perished in the camps could only dream of. They rejected despair when they helped build up our nation from the ashes, and they continue to do so by allowing us to declare with conviction: "Never again!"
Today, as we remember the millions who lost their lives in the Holocaust, I ask that you share this graphic with your friends and family to honor their memory, share their stories, and celebrate Israel's triumph.
Share this graphic on Facebook, Twitter, or via email.
Thank you for standing with this community, the people of Israel, and all of those who are united to prevent the tragedies of the past from ever occurring again.
