Mr. President, Show Me the Fatwa
President Obama references the imaginary Iranian anti-nuke fatwa, again.
There’s an Iranian press release written in 2005 that says, “The Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has issued the fatwa that the production, stockpiling and use of nuclear weapons are forbidden under Islam and that Iran shall never acquire these weapons.” But that’s not a fatwa. That’s a propaganda statement released by the Iranian government for international consumption. In Iran, a fatwa has legal standing — and no one has ever seen this mysterious Iranian anti-nuke fatwa. It’s never been released, because it doesn’t exist. In 2013, the Washington Post questioned if the fatwa exists. The Washington Post showed a similar example of another non-existent Iranian fatwa against chemical weapons. If a chemical weapons fatwa ever existed, it was clearly ignored when Iran was forced to eventually admit that it had produced chemical weapons. In 2013, when President Obama endorsed the fatwa, MEMRI – the Middle East Research Institute, with their trove of translators went looking for the fatwa. They found lots of other fatwas, but no fatwa against Iran having nuclear weapons. In short, there is zero evidence that any actual Iranian fatwa exists against the Islamic Republic’s acquisition or use of nuclear weapons.
Obama issued this message on the same day he spoke on the phone with Israeli Prim Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who strongly opposes U.S. negotiations with Iran.
President Barack Obama called on Iranians to reach a nuclear deal in a video message marking Norwuz, the Persian New Year. “As you gather around the Nowruz table—from Tehran to Shiraz to Tabriz, from the coasts of the Caspian Sea to the Persian Gulf—you’re giving thanks for your blessings and looking ahead to the future,” Obama said.
(The deadline for a deal is at the end of the month. Officials leaked details of the draft agreement to the Associated Press on Thursday.)
“Iran’s leaders have a choice between two paths,” the president said. “If they cannot agree to a reasonable deal, they will keep Iran on the path it’s on today—a path that has isolated Iran, and the Iranian people, from so much of the world, caused so much hardship for Iranian families, and deprived so many young Iranians of the jobs and opportunities they deserve.”
“On the other hand, if Iran’s leaders can agree to a reasonable deal, it can lead to a better path — the path of greater opportunities for the Iranian people,” the president continued. “In other words, a nuclear deal now can help open the door to a brighter future for you — the Iranian people, who, as heirs to a great civilization, have so much to give to the world.”

"heirs to a great civilization"...these heirs lost to the Greeks time and time again...300 Spartans stopped them dead cold at Thermopylae and the Greeks defeated in Mycaele, Salamina and Marathon. After that, Alexander of Macedonia defeated the Persian Empire and conquered them. And after that, the Persians are notoriously absent from the history books until they assaulted the time of the Shah of Iran and when they assaulted our embassy in Teheran and kidnapped our diplomats for about a year.
Then they started in a career based in the hate for the USA and Israel and of sponsoring terrorism around the world and right now they controlled directly(troops in Irak) and/or indirectly (Hezbollah and Hamas) a good portion of the Middle East. They have lied to the UN and to the world as to their atomic ambitions and plans. They continue to develop missiles of medium to long range.
They have promised again and again to wipe out little ISRAEL from the map. And in the main streets of Teheran, they still have painted the American flag so they can drive over and step on it. Please Mr. President, study history carefully and you can see that it repeats itself...remember Munich and also remember Pearl Harbor...
