Netanyahu Speech: Obama Disagrees… And?by Rachel Molschky |
Stop the presses! After the much-anticipated speech by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the US Congress, President Obama's reaction was... wait for it... that he disagrees! He said that the PM offered no useful solution and acted as if Netanyahu has no idea what he's talking about, which almost sounds like the political equivalent of a child saying, "Well... well... I'm right, and you're wrong. So there!"
House Minority Leader and fellow Democrat Nancy Pelosi, who once said that Hamas is a humanitarian group, agrees with Obama. Shocker!
Pelosi, who said she was "near tears" at times throughout the speech due to the insulting implication that the US as part of the P5+1 nations basically doesn't know what it's doing, felt the speech to be condescending.
Obama's track record shows that he really doesn't know what he's doing, and when Iran threatens to wipe Israel off the map, it is the duty of the Israeli Prime Minister to do what he can to protect his nation. And with this speech, he did just that by informing Congress.
"The greatest danger facing our world is the marriage of militant Islam with nuclear weapons," Netanyahu told members of Congress, also stating that this Iran deal could lead to even more terrorism in the Middle East and around the world.
Naturally, Democrats will shut down any discussion of Muslim terrorism, but Israel has no choice but to face it head on.
With the Purim holiday coming up, the Israeli PM compared Iran's stated intentions of destroying Israel to Haman's plot to kill the Jews: (the Persian threat in the Book of Esther and the Persian threat today)
“Today the Jewish people face another attempt by yet another Persian potentate to destroy it. Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei spews the oldest hatred of anti-Semitism with new technology. He tweets in English that Israel must be destroyed.”
Netanyahu likened the Iranian threat to that posed by Islamic State and warned that Iran’s actions against IS (also known as ISIS) did not make it an ally of the US. “Don’t be fooled. The battle between Iran and ISIS doesn’t turn Iran into a friend of America,” he said. Both, he maintained, were competing to be the flag-bearers of radical Islam.
“The difference is that ISIS is armed with butcher knives, captured weapons and YouTube while Iran may soon be armed with intercontinental ballistic missiles armed with nuclear warheads,” he declared. “When it comes to Iran and ISIS, the enemy of your enemy is your enemy.”
... “Even if Israel has to stand alone, Israel will stand,” he vowed, although he quickly added: “I know that Israel does not stand alone. I know that America stands with Israel. I know that you stand with Israel.”
He is absolutely correct in that. Obama, Pelosi and other defiant Democrats are not all of America, and the American people support Israel. Netanyahu's speech received 25 standing ovations, according to the Times of Israel.
