Netanyahu warns Iran is opening a Third Front against Israel with Hezbollah in southern Syria, and warns that this next month is critical to stop a dangerous agreement with Iran.
Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Sunday, Feb. 22, spoke at the beginning of the weekly cabinet session. He warned that Iran is trying to develop a third front against Israel in the Golan Heights. Iran holds direct command over the thousands of Hezbollah fighters massed along southern Syria, which borders on Israel. This front is in addition to Iran’s control over terrorist fighters in Lebanon, to Israel’s north, and the Hamas terrorists fighting against Israel in Gaza, along Israel’s southwestern border.
The Israeli prime minister expressed incredulity that the international community continues to engage in diplomatic negotiations regarding the Islamic Republic’s drive towards nuclear weapons capability, despite its ongoing support for murderous terrorism and the unavoidable truth that Iran continues to deceive the international watchdogs about its nuclear program. He emphasized the need to take action within the next month before a bad deal with Iran is embraced by the U.S. and its negotiating partners.
It is astonishing that even after the recent IAEA report determined that Iran is continuing to hide the military components of its nuclear program, the nuclear talks with it are proceeding. Not only are they continuing, there is an increased effort to reach a nuclear agreement in the coming days and weeks.
Once again Netanyahu doubled down on his stated intention to go to Washington, D.C. next week. He intends to explain to the U.S. Congress that the current deal being crafted between Iran and the major world powers is one that will endanger not only Israel, but the rest of the world.
The Israeli prime minister said he hopes that his appearance before Congress will help “influence the fate of the agreement,” which is “dangerous for Israel, the region and the entire world.”
