European officials claim Saudi Arabia is willing to cooperate with Israel in case of a potential attack in Iran, in exchange for progress in peace talks with the Palestinians. Feb 24, 2015, 09:30PM | Yael Klein
In talks with European officials behind closed doors, Saudi diplomats stated they see eye to
eye with Israel concerning the Iranian issue. They further stated that Saudi Arabia will agree to let the Israeli Air Force use its airspace in order to implement an attack in Iran, says a European Union official. Nonetheless, the officials stipulated a condition in exchange for the offer, stating Saudi Arabia will open its airspace to Israel in return for some kind of progress in peace talks with the Palestinians. The Saudi government is immensely subject to the public's opinion, therefore it cannot allow Israel to use its territory for military purposes without asking for progress in negotiations with the Palestinians in return.
In the meantime, Israeli officials deny claims according to which they do not know the details of the forming deal with Iran, to which Israel objects. They stress that Israel does not need the USA in order to find out what is said in the negotiation talks. They claim Israel has alternative sources providing it enough information to know the deal is a bad deal.
