Today, 17 Marcheshvan, is the Yartzheit of Rabbi Meir Kahane, who was assassinated by an Arab terrorist in NYC on Nov. 5, 1990. In 1993, the same terror cell which killed Meir Kahane tried to blow up the World Trade Center. Al Qaeda's first try.
Rabbi Meir Kahane (1 August 1932 – 5 November 1990) was an American-Israeli Orthodox rabbi, writer, nationalist, and served in the Israeli Knesset. He was assassinated by El Sayyid Nosair, an Arab terrorist, affiliated with al Qaeda. He founded the Jewish Defense League, which was declared a terrorist group by the United States and Israel. El Sayyid Nosair was convicted of involvement in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing in Federal Court of nine counts, including seditious conspiracy, murder in aid of racketeering, attempted murder in aid of racketeering, attempted murder of a postal police officer, use of a firearm in the commission of a murder, use of a firearm during an attempted murder, and possession of a firearm.
