Netanayhu: We shall once again defeat terrorism.
Calls on Israel's Arab citizens not to succumb to incitement
Nov 11, 2014, 09:34PM | Yoni Ariel Prime Minister Netanyahu convened a special cabinet meeting this evening to discuss the deteriorating security situation. During the meeting he said that Israel had defeated terrorism in the past, and would do so again.
The cabinet approved several steps to combat the escalating wave of terrorism, and to contain the growing unrest among Israel's Arab minority, which constitutes approximately 20% of Israel's population. These include a policy of destroying family homes of terrorists, and stiff prison sentences for people convicted of stoning cars. Parents of children caught throwing stones will receive heavy fines.
Earlier in the day security forces deployed an additional 2,000 troops in the West Bank, to ensure they army and police are effectively able to maintain law and order. In addition the IDF deployed an Iron Dome battery in northern Israel, in order to be prepared to meet any unexpected hostile acts from either Hezbollah or Jihadist terrorists operating in Syria.
Netanyahu castigated PA Chairman Abu Mazen, saying that instead of working to extinguish the flames, he was fanning them. He said this proves beyond any doubt that Abu Mazen cannot be considered a man with whom Israel can do business.
Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon said that he was determined not allow any further escalation, and has ordered the IDF to act accordingly. "We have beefed up security measures, added troops and deployed an Iron Dome battery, to cover all possible contingencies".

Increasing tensions throughout Israel raise concerns regarding possible rocket fire from Lebanon and Syria. An Iron Dome battery was deployed in the Krayot area, near Haifa, against potential threats. Recent unrest has led the Cabinet to deploy some 2,000 Border Police officers in the West Bank. Defense Minister Ya'alon visited Gush Etzion today and said further escalation is to be prepared for, however he stressed the security forces will not let it occur. Ya'alon said he holds Palestinian Authority Leader Mahmud Abbas responsible for inciting the Palestinian population against Israel. "I call out to residents to do everything in their power to reduce tensions in the area", he said. Jewish Home leader Minister Naftali Bennet stated earlier today: "Not only can terror be beaten, it must be beaten, and we will beat it".
