First Sergeant Gilad Yaakobi, 21, from Qiryat Ono, Lone Soldier all the way from Texas. Golani combat soldier. Funeral tomorrow at 10am in Kiryat Shaul in Tel Aviv. Family requests media does not attend. Posthumously awarded rank of first sergeant.
First Sergeant Oz Mendelovitch, 21, from Avtalion, Golani combat soldier, his father was also a member of the Golani Brigade. Funeral at 6pm in Misgav. Posthumously awarded rank of first sergeant. After hearing the news, friends eulogized his passing on Facebook. “You are an example to every child in the country who wants to protect the state,” a fellow soldier wrote commending his valor.
First Sergeant Nissim Shon Carmelli, 21, from Ra'anana, dual U.S.-Israeli citizenship of South Padre Island, Texas. Sean Carmeli was a returning citizen who came from a small town in Texas. “Everything may be bigger in Texas, but the beaches and parties could not distract a native-son from returning home to defend and protect his people…” the center posted on its Facebook page in honor of Carmeli’s memory. Golani combat soldier. Posthumously awarded rank of first sergeant. Enlisted in the IDF in February 2012, and has since devoted his life to Golani.
IDF names First Sergeant Moshe Malko, 20, as seventh slain soldier, from Jerusalem, survived by wife and eight siblings. The Jerusalem resident is survived by eight siblings, and was promoted posthumously to staff sergeant. Originally from Ethiopia…ALPHA ISRAEL!
Max Steinberg, dual U.S.-Israeli citizenship of Los Angeles, California. Steinberg, served as a Golani sniper, came “from a proud Zionist home” in Los Angeles and “did everything he could to stand up and fight for what was right,” the post continued.
