“The LORD your God, who is going before you, will fight for you, as he did for you in Egypt, before your very eyes, and in the wilderness. There you saw how the LORD your God carried you, as a father carries his son, all the way you went until you reached this place.” — Deuteronomy 1:30–31 Ten casualties in less than one day. July 29, 2014/ 2 Av, 5774 Last night terrorists tried to infiltrate Israeli territory near the community of Nahal Oz. During the incident five soldiers were killed, bringing the number of fatalities yesterday to ten IDF soldiers as part of Operation "Protective Edge". The IDF released the names of the four soldiers killed for publication: fighter soldiers in the commanders' course squad: 1)Sergeant Daniel Kedmi, 18 from Tzofim. The funeral today at 17:00 at the Kiryat Shaul cemetery. 2)Sergeant Barkai Yishai Shore, 21, from Jerusalem. The time of the funeral will later be notified. 3)Sergeant Sagi Erez, 19, of Kiryat Ata. The funeral today at 18:00 at the Haifa military cemetery. 4)Sergeant Dor Deri, 18, from Jerusalem. The funeral today at 17:00 at the Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. This is one of the hardest days of the war in the 21 days of "Protective Edge", when just hours before the event at Nahal Oz it was made cleared for publication that five soldiers were killed in the Gaza Strip and on the border. Four of those killed were hit in a difficult event where a mortar shell blew up an IDF gathering close to the Eshkol Regional Council area. The fallen served in the Armored Corps "Saar Golan," and the time of their funerals has not yet been determined. These are their names: • Sergeant Eliav Eliyahu Chaim Kahlon, 22, from Tzfat. • Private Maidan Biton, 20, from Netivot. • Private Niran Cohen, 20, from Tiberias. • Sergeant Adi Riga, 23, from Beit Ha'Shikma. In another incident that took place yesterday in the afternoon, an IDF soldier Sergeant Moses Doina, 20, from Jerusalem, was killed. Doina was injured during a military operation in the Gaza Strip. He was promoted to Sergeant after his death. He is survived by his parents, Ruhama and Nisim, and three siblings. During the evening family, friends and neighbors filled his home in Jerusalem. P.S.- Of blessed memory HY”D. Now they are with the L-rd of ISRAEL. Honor and Glory to them and to their families…from faraway Miami, I wished them the comfort that our faith gives us and to the fact that they died to keep their people free…
