Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a public statement at the Defense Ministry in Tel Aviv on Sunday night, following the deaths of the 13 Israeli soldiers of the Golani brigade: “The heart of the entire nation is with the families of the fallen. We feel your pain. We bow our head to your sons who fell so that we can continue living here. On behalf of the Government and the entire People of Israel, I would like to express the deep pain that we feel,” said Prime Minister Netanyahu.
JERUSALEM – A massive prayer rally was held at the Western Wall on Saturday night, June 19 for the safety and successful mission of Israel Defense Forces. Former Sephardi Chief Rabbi, Shlomo Amar called upon the Israeli public read the Psalms as did rabbis from across the spectrum. Rabbi Amar was among the Israeli rabbis who lead the prayers and reading of the Psalms on Saturday night as thousands gathered at Judaism’s holiest site in the nation’s capital to pray for the soldiers’ safety.
Father Gabriel Nadaf, one of the heads of the Greek-Orthodox church in Israel and a staunch supporter of the State of Israel, called on the international community Monday to support Israel’s government and Operation Protective Edge, and to unite against terrorism “in order to safeguard the Holy Land.” “In the name of the Israeli Christians, I am crying out to the whole world: Wake up! Terrorism acts don’t allow any chance for peace. If Hamas doesn’t safeguard its own people, Israel cannot be held responsible for their safety. Hamas is supposed to be protecting its own people but unfortunately, like all the terrorist organizations, it does the opposite, takes advantage of the Civilian Gazan population, and sacrifices its people (women and children). Therefore, the death of the Palestinian civilians in Gaza is the sole responsibility of Hamas. They are the only ones to blame,” said Father Nadaf.
