President Shimon Peres continued today (Tuesday) with his visits to the families of fallen soldiers and gave his condolences. "Your daughter, and the son you are about to have, will forever be a living memorial of Tzafrir" - said the President of Israel, Shimon Peres, to Sivan, the widow of Major Tzafrir Bar-Or, who was killed in combat in Gaza. President Shimon Peres continued today (Tuesday) his visits to the families of fallen soldiers. Today he visited the families of fallen soldiers Major Tzafrir Bar-Or, 32, and Corporal Gilad Yaakobi, 21. Both were killed in combat in Gaza.
The President met with the parents of Major Bar-Or, Sharona and Arie, and his wife Sivan, a mother to a one-year old girl, who is currently in the late stages of her pregnancy. He embraced the mother, wiped her tears, and tried to strengthen her. "Your son was a model of courage and dedication. He loved the country of Israel with all his heart and didn't hesitate to give his life to protect the lives of those living in the South of Israel. He died a hero", said Peres to the family. Lian, daughter of Tzafrir, keeps asking: "Is dad coming?" Sharona, Tzafrir's mother, said that "every time the door opens and someone enters the house, Lian asks: 'Is dad coming? is dad coming?', and we can't stop from crying. I looked at my granddaughter eyes and they're just like her father's. I was so scared. I felt as if Tzafrir was looking at me through her little eyes". Sivan, Tzafrir's widow, asked the President to relay a message to all of the women waiting for the safe return of their husbands, and said: "I want to strengthen the wives of soldiers who are waiting for them at home. May god protect them and may they return safely.
