GONE-BUT-NOT-FORGOTTEN...OF BLESSED MEMORY
Sergeant First Class (res.) Yair Ashkenazi was killed in the early morning hours of Friday during operational activity in the northern Gaza Strip, the IDF Spokesperson's Unit reported. Ashkenazi, a 36-year-old resident of Rehovot, was a combat soldier in a reserve brigade. He was laid to rest on Friday afternoon in the military cemetery in Rehovot. Ashkenazi is the 33rd casualty of Operation Protective Edge.
One IDF soldier was killed in action Friday afternoon in Gaza, the IDF said, bringing the number of fallen soldiers to 35 since the start of Israel's ground offensive in Operation Protective Edge. St.-Sgt. Guy Levy, 21, from Kfar Vradim in northern Israel was serving in the Armored Corps when he was killed in central Gaza.
