Hamas Present: Tunnels and Weapons on Standby. The cease-fire has lasted for over two
days, however, the organization is already threatening to resume attacks
tomorrow and demonstrate how. An Al Jazeera news reporter claims to have
visited mortar and sniper posts as well as a tunnel. Aug 07, 2014, 10:16AM | 11 AV, 5774 Ayelet Izraeli
Deliberations are renewed in
Cairo this morning, and Hamas is busy creating leverage in the negotiations.
The
Al Jazeera Network showed a documentation in which it is shown, after the
cease-fire, a tunnel, rocket launcher, shells and anti-tank missiles, which
according to Hamas are ready for the possibility of renewed battles. "We are on the line with Israel, we are
prepared for anything. Our people look after us", said a Hamas activist in
the report. The network reporter was seen yesterday, walking in a tunnel, which
according to him, despite of Israel's operation, is still operating. "We
have many more surprises", promise other activists in the report.
"The resistance is ready". It
should be noted that although Israel has made it clear that it destroyed all of
the terror tunnels know to it, it is clear to the security forces that Hamas
still has many "administrative" tunnels, that do not infiltrate
Israel, apparently this is one of them. Since
yesterday, Hamas has been busy spreading messages that if their demands within
the negotiation in Egypt are not met – they will continue attacking Israel at
the end of the 72 hour cease-fire. "There is no agreement to prolong the
cease-fire", Hamas' Deputy Chief, Ismail Haniyeh, clarified yesterday, in
response to reports that both parties have agreed to extend the truce.
Hamas official, Ismail Radwan,
added "the truce has not been extended" until the organization hears
Israel response to its list of demands. Meanwhile, the Military Wing of Hamas
has issued a statement claiming that they are on standby to resume the attacks
against Israel, at the end of the cease-fire, at 08:00 a.m. tomorrow. "Israel is closely tracking the
implementation of the cease-fire and we are prepared for a case in which it is
violated", stated Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, yesterday. "The
IDF has reinforced ground forces to address any scenario. The forces, who were
not there prior to the operation, will stay in the Gaza Envelope Settlements
area, in order to give the residents there better protection. He also stressed
that "the security of the residents in the area is much better and a lot
safer than it was before the operation".
United States President,
Barack Obama, called out tonight to lift the siege on Gaza with time. "In
the long run there there should be an understanding that Gaza cannot sustain
itself closed off from the world", said Obama. The American President also
added that: "The United States' goal at this time, is to make sure the
cease-fire lasts, but at the same time it's important to make sure that Gaza
can start a rehabilitation process".
